Governance
Ridgeville is governed by a board of five elected commissioners who set policy for its operation and maintenance. As the governing body, the board meets once a month to establish park policy and ensure the delivery of programming and facility use to all residents of the district. Commissioners are elected to a six-year term and serve without compensation.
The current Board of Commissioners is Matthew Mitchell, president; Mick Morel, vice president; Diana Anton, Amanda DePalma, and Shawn Jones.
The operations of the Ridgeville Park District are governed by The General Ordinance of the Ridgeville Park District (Revised October 2019, May 2021 and May 2022).

The Board is assisted by the following non-elected persons:
Gerry Gibbs, the park district Treasurer, worked in banking operations and systems development for 26 years and in that time participated in the merger, acquisition, and consolidation of 26 banks throughout northern Illinois and Indiana. Since 2002, he’s been in the residential real estate industry, currently as a broker with Baird & Warner. Additionally, he provides computer and information consulting and small business accounting services to a handful of clients in various business areas.
Charles Valente, the Board’s legal counsel, is a partner at Kaplan Saunders Valente & Beninati LLP. Charlie has a broad range of litigation experience, as well as working successfully achieving settlements that align with his client’s goals and minimize their cost. He is also an expert on public accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and state law.
Julie Larson, who records the minutes at Board meetings, has lived in the neighborhood with her husband and three children for many years. As a family, they are involved with Oakton Elementary School and Reba Place Church and have enjoyed the additional layer of vibrant community life offered through Ridgeville. Julie is glad to serve the Board in her capacity as the minute taker and remain updated on all that is going on at Ridgeville.
Natalie Sallee, the Board’s Corporate Secretary, is also the park district’s Program Director.
