Teen and Adult Summer Classes

ADULT CORE STRETCH AND STRENGTH

Based on theories and exercises from pilates, Bartenieff Fundamentals, hatha yoga, classical ballet, jazz, and modern dance technique, this class will focus on strengthening the abdominal, hip, back, leg, arm, and shoulder muscles, and then transition into a deep full body stretch during the second half of class. Participants will improve their core strength and stability using full body integration for ease of movement. Don't miss out on this opportunity to enjoy the invigorating yet soothing effects of embodied movement practice!

Senior yoga is for individuals who are extremely active and need to maintain strength and flexibility, and for those with limited mobility who are in need of enhancing their strength and flexibility of movement. Looking for a fast paced, high energy class that will greatly enhance your cardiovascular and strength conditioning? Participants in this class will engage in a traditional circuit training model that incorporates body weight exercises, stability balls, and resistance bands. All experience levels are welcome and modifications will be made for any physical limitations. Don't be intimidated...give it a try!

WRITERS' WORKSHOP

This workshop focuses on writing as a process of discovery and exploration as participants are given opportunities to reflect on their experience, tell their stories, and tap their creativity. With prompts, open pages, and fast moving pens, participants will get their experiences and stories down on paper, reconnecting with their own writing process and where it wants to take them. No previous writing experience is required, and the workshop is ideal for those who find themselves reluctant to put pen to paper as well as those who write regularly.

Creative Movement For Teens
With Special Needs

Creative Movement for Teens with Special Needs is a structured creative movement class for teens ages 13-18 with physical, social, or emotional special needs. The class will provide an opportunity for teens to move their bodies to their maximum functional or expressive movement potential, share the love for movement and dance with peers, explore their own creativity and share in the creativity of others, and learn dance steps. Music and props may be used to enhance the creative and/or movement experience. Modifications will be encouraged to allow for participation that meets each student's individual needs. The class will culminate with a final performance on the last day. Parents or caregivers will be asked to remain on the premises while students adjust to the class. Class size is limited to a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 students.

FELDENKRAIS®

INTRO TO CARTOON STORYTELLING
